Describe the Activity:
TARC is the world’s largest rocketry contest and the aerospace and defense industry’s signature STEM workforce development program for middle and high school students. Over the course of the contest, students learn to use hands on engineering skills to design and fabricate a rocket to meet challenging mission criteria that change each year.
Teams register in September, connect with a NAR rocketry mentor who will teach them rocketry basics, design and test their rocket in a computer simulator, and then fabricate and launch their rockets. Three official launches are observed by NAR judges and submitted for national scoring.
The top 100 teams in the country are invited to National Finals outside of Washington, D.C., and the winner of National Finals travels to London or Paris to represent the United States at the International Rocketry Challenge.

Typical budget per team is $500-1000, which includes registration, rocket parts and motors.
Each team must be 3-10 students. Each school can have multiple teams with at least one adult who can supervise the teams.

Top placing teams split $100k cash/ Scholarships
Overall winning team will go to United Kingdom or France to compete in INT’L Rocketry Challenge
One per team.

The purpose of the TARC program is to inspire and excite students about education and careers in STEM fields and the aerospace industry.
