Describe the Activity: 

The Noetic Learning Math Contest (NLMC) is a semiannual problem solving contest for elementary and middle school students. The goal of the competition is to encourage students' interest in math, to develop their problem solving skills, and to inspire them to excel in math. During the contest, students are given 45 minutes to solve 20 problems. Many problems are designed to challenge students and to enrich their problem solving experiences. Schools also have the option of hosting their own tournament.

Time Details: 

The contest is held twice yearly. This year's dates include November 9, 2017 (Fall Contest) and April 5, 2018 (Spring Contest).

Cost Details: 

$39/team of up to 30 students

Prize Details: 

Medals are awarded for the top scorers.

Outcome of the Activity: 
The questions in the contest meet Common Core math standards.
